1TSKCOMThe oracle (a burdensome message—a pronouncement from God) which Habakkuk the prophet saw.
1TSKCOMI am Habakkuk the prophet. And this is the message that the Lord gave me.
1TSKCOMThe burden which Habakkuk the prophet did see.
1TSKCOMThe revelation which Habakkuk the prophet saw.
1TSKCOMThe burden which Habakkuk the prophet did see.
1TSKCOMHabakkookk pravaachakan darshicha pravaachakam.
2TSKCOM¶O L ord , how long will I call for help And You will not hear? I cry out to You, “Violence!” Yet You do not save.
2TSKCOMOur Lord , how long must I beg for your help before you listen? How long before you save us from all this violence?
2TSKCOMO LORD, how long shall I cry, and thou wilt not hear! even cry out unto thee of violence, and thou wilt not save!
2TSKCOMYahweh, how long will I cry, and you will not hear? I cry out to you “Violence!” and will you not save?
2TSKCOMO Jehovah, how long shall I cry, and thou wilt not hear? I cry out unto thee of violence, and thou wilt not save.
2TSKCOMYahove, ethratholam njaan ayyam vilikkayum nee kelkkaathirikkayum cheyyum? saahasamnimitham njaan ethratholam ninnotu nilavilikkayum nee rakshikkaathirikkayum cheyyum?
3TSKCOMWhy do You make me see iniquity, And cause me to look on wickedness? For destruction and violence are before me; Strife continues and contention arises.
3TSKCOMWhy do you make me watch such terrible injustice? Why do you allow violence, lawlessness, crime, and cruelty to spread everywhere?
3TSKCOMWhy dost thou shew me iniquity, and cause me to behold grievance? for spoiling and violence are before me: and there are that raise up strife and contention.
3TSKCOMWhy do you show me iniquity, and look at perversity? For destruction and violence are before me. There is strife, and contention rises up.
3TSKCOMWhy dost thou show me iniquity, and look upon perverseness? for destruction and violence are before me; and there is strife, and contention riseth up.
3TSKCOMNee enne neethiketu kaanumaaraakkunnathum peedanam veruthe nokkunnathum enthinu? kavarchayum saahasavum enre mumpil untu; kalaham natakkunnu; shantha ulavaayi varum.
4TSKCOMTherefore, the law is ineffective and ignored And justice is never upheld, For the wicked surround the righteous; Therefore, justice becomes perverted.
4TSKCOMLaws cannot be enforced; justice is always the loser; criminals crowd out honest people and twist the laws around.
4TSKCOMTherefore the law is slacked, and judgment doth never go forth: for the wicked doth compass about the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceedeth.
4TSKCOMTherefore the law is paralyzed, and justice never prevails; for the wicked surround the righteous; therefore justice comes out perverted.
4TSKCOMTherefore the law is slacked, and justice doth never go forth; for the wicked doth compass about the righteous; therefore justice goeth forth perverted.
4TSKCOMAthukontu nyaayapramaanam ayanjnjirikkunnu; nyaayam orunaalum velippettuvarunnathumilla; dushtan neethimaane valanjnjirikkunnu; athukontu nyaayam vakrathayaayi velippettuvarunnu.
5TSKCOM¶[The L ord replied,] “Look among the nations! See! Be astonished! Wonder! For I am doing something in your days— You would not believe it if you were told. [Acts 13:40, 41]
5TSKCOMLook and be amazed at what's happening among the nations! Even if you were told, you would never believe what's taking place now.
5TSKCOMBehold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvellously: for I will work a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be told you.
5TSKCOM“Look among the nations, watch, and wonder marvelously; for I am working a work in your days, which you will not believe though it is told you.
5TSKCOMBehold ye among the nations, and look, and wonder marvellously; for I am working a work in your days, which ye will not believe though it be told you.
5TSKCOMJaathikalute itayil drishtivechu nokkuvin! aashcharyappettu vismayippin! njaan ningalute kaalathu oru pravrithi cheyyum; athu vivarichukettaal ningal vishvasikkayilla.
6TSKCOM“For behold, I am raising up the Chaldeans [who rule in Babylon], That fierce and impetuous nation Who march throughout the earth To take possession of dwelling places that do not belong to them. [2 Kin 24:2]
6TSKCOMI am sending the Babylonians. They are fierce and cruel— marching across the land, conquering cities and towns.
6TSKCOMFor, lo, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, which shall march through the breadth of the land, to possess the dwellingplaces that are not theirs.
6TSKCOMFor, behold, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, that march through the width of the earth, to possess dwelling places that are not theirs.
6TSKCOMFor, lo, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, that march through the breadth of the earth, to possess dwelling-places that are not theirs.
6TSKCOMNjaan ugrathayum vegathayumulla jaathiyaaya kaldayare unarthum; avar thangalutethallaatha vaasasthalangale kaivashamaakkendathinnu bhoomandalathil neele sanjcharikkunnu.
7TSKCOM“The Chaldeans are dreaded and feared; Their justice and authority originate with themselves and are defined only by their decree.
7TSKCOMHow fearsome and frightening. Their only laws and rules are the ones they make up.
7TSKCOMThey are terrible and dreadful: their judgment and their dignity shall proceed of themselves.
7TSKCOMThey are feared and dreaded. Their judgment and their dignity proceed from themselves.
7TSKCOMThey are terrible and dreadful; their judgment and their dignity proceed from themselves.
7TSKCOMAvar ghoravum bhayangkaravumaayullavar; avarute nyaayavum shreshthathayum avarilninnu thanne purappetunnu.
8TSKCOM“Their horses are swifter than leopards And keener than [hungry] wolves in the evening, Their horsemen come galloping, Their horsemen come from far away; They fly like an eagle swooping down to devour.
8TSKCOMTheir cavalry troops are faster than leopards, more ferocious than wolves hunting at sunset, and swifter than hungry eagles suddenly swooping down.
8TSKCOMTheir horses also are swifter than the leopards, and are more fierce than the evening wolves: and their horsemen shall spread themselves, and their horsemen shall come from far; they shall fly as the eagle that hasteth to eat.
8TSKCOMTheir horses also are swifter than leopards, and are more fierce than the evening wolves. Their horsemen press proudly on. Yes, their horsemen come from afar. They fly as an eagle that hurries to devour.
8TSKCOMTheir horses also are swifter than leopards, and are more fierce than the evening wolves; and their horsemen press proudly on: yea, their horsemen come from far; they fly as an eagle that hasteth to devour.
8TSKCOMAvarute kuthirakal pullippulikalekkaal vegathayum vaikunnerathe chennaaykkalekkaal ugrathayumullava; avarute kuthirachevakar garvvichotikkunnu; avarute kuthirachevakar doorathuninnu varunnu; thinnuvaan badhappetunna kazhukaneppole avar parannu varunnu.
9TSKCOM“They all come for violence; Their horde of faces moves [eagerly] forward, They gather prisoners like sand.
9TSKCOMThey are eager to destroy, and they gather captives like handfuls of sand.
9TSKCOMThey shall come all for violence: their faces shall sup up as the east wind, and they shall gather the captivity as the sand.
9TSKCOMAll of them come for violence. Their hordes face the desert. He gathers prisoners like sand.
9TSKCOMThey come all of them for violence; the set of their faces is forwards; and they gather captives as the sand.
9TSKCOMAvar evarum samhaarathinnaayi varunnu; avarute mukham mumpottu badhappetunnu; avar manalpole badhanmaare pitichucherkkunnu.
10TSKCOM“They make fun of kings And rulers are a laughing matter to them. They ridicule every stronghold And heap up rubble [for earth mounds] and capture it.
10TSKCOMThey make fun of rulers and laugh at fortresses, while building dirt mounds so they can capture cities.
10TSKCOMAnd they shall scoff at the kings, and the princes shall be a scorn unto them: they shall deride every strong hold; for they shall heap dust, and take it.
10TSKCOMYes, he scoffs at kings, and princes are a derision to him. He laughs at every stronghold, for he builds up an earthen ramp, and takes it.
10TSKCOMYea, he scoffeth at kings, and princes are a derision unto him; he derideth every stronghold; for he heapeth up dust, and taketh it.
10TSKCOMAvar raajaakkanmaare parihasikkunnu; prabhukkanmaar avarkku haasyamaayirikkunnu; avar ethu kottayeyum kurichu chirikkunnu; avar mannu kunnichu athine pitikkum.
11TSKCOM“Then they will sweep by like the wind and pass on. But they will be held guilty, They [and all men] whose own power and strength is their god.”
11TSKCOMThen suddenly they disappear like a gust of wind— those sinful people who worship their own strength.
11TSKCOMThen shall his mind change, and he shall pass over, and offend, imputing this his power unto his god.
11TSKCOMThen he sweeps by like the wind, and goes on. He is indeed guilty, whose strength is his god.”
11TSKCOMThen shall he sweep by [as] a wind, and shall pass over, and be guilty, [even] he whose might is his god.
11TSKCOMAnnu avan kaarrupole atichukatannu athikramichu kurrakkaaranaaytheerum; svanthashakthiyallo avannu daivam.
12TSKCOM¶Are You not from everlasting, O L ord , my God, My Holy One? We will not die. O L ord , You have appointed the Chaldeans [who rule in Babylon] to execute [Your] judgment, And You, O Rock, have established them to correct and chastise. [Deut 32:4]
12TSKCOMHoly Lord God, mighty rock, you are eternal, and we are safe from death. You are using those Babylonians to judge and punish others.
12TSKCOMArt thou not from everlasting, O LORD my God, mine Holy One? we shall not die. O LORD, thou hast ordained them for judgment; and, O mighty God, thou hast established them for correction.
12TSKCOMAren’t you from everlasting, Yahweh my God, my Holy One? We will not die. Yahweh, you have appointed him for judgment. You, Rock, have established him to punish.
12TSKCOMArt not thou from everlasting, O Jehovah my God, my Holy One? we shall not die. O Jehovah, thou hast ordained him for judgment; and thou, O Rock, hast established him for correction.
12TSKCOMEnre daivamaaya yahove, nee puraathaname enre parishudhanallayo? njangal marikkayilla; yahove, nee avane nyaayavidhikkaayi niyamichirikkunnu; paarayaayullove, shikshekkaayi nee avane niyogichirikkunnu.
13TSKCOMYour eyes are too pure to approve evil, And You cannot look favorably on wickedness. Why then do You look favorably On those who act treacherously? Why are you silent when the wicked (Chaldean oppressors) destroy Those more righteous than they?
13TSKCOMBut you can't stand sin or wrong. So don't sit by in silence while they gobble up people who are better than they are.
13TSKCOMThou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously, and holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he?
13TSKCOMYou who have purer eyes than to see evil, and who cannot look on perversity, why do you tolerate those who deal treacherously, and keep silent when the wicked swallows up the man who is more righteous than he,
13TSKCOMThou that art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and that canst not look on perverseness, wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously, and holdest thy peace when the wicked swalloweth up the man that is more righteous than he;

14TSKCOMWhy do You make men like the fish of the sea, Like reptiles and creeping things that have no ruler [and are helpless against their enemies]?
14TSKCOMThe people you put on this earth are like fish or reptiles without a leader.
14TSKCOMAnd makest men as the fishes of the sea, as the creeping things, that have no ruler over them?
14TSKCOMand make men like the fish of the sea, like the creeping things, that have no ruler over them?
14TSKCOMand makest men as the fishes of the sea, as the creeping things, that have no ruler over them?
14TSKCOMNee mindaathirikkunnathum manushyare samudrathile mathsyangaleppoleyum adhipathiyillaatha izhajaathikaleppoleyum aakkunnathum enthu?
15TSKCOMThe Chaldeans bring all of them up with a hook, And drag them away with a net, And gather them together in their fishing net; So they rejoice and are glad.
15TSKCOMThen an enemy comes along and takes them captive with hooks and nets. It makes him so happy
15TSKCOMThey take up all of them with the angle, they catch them in their net, and gather them in their drag: therefore they rejoice and are glad.
15TSKCOMHe takes up all of them with the hook. He catches them in his net, and gathers them in his dragnet. Therefore he rejoices and is glad.
15TSKCOMHe taketh up all of them with the angle, he catcheth them in his net, and gathereth them in his drag: therefore he rejoiceth and is glad.

16TSKCOMTherefore, they offer sacrifices to their net And burn incense to their fishing net; Because through these things their catch is large and they live luxuriously, And their food is plentiful.
16TSKCOMthat he offers sacrifices to his fishing nets, because they make him rich and provide choice foods.
16TSKCOMTherefore they sacrifice unto their net, and burn incense unto their drag; because by them their portion is fat, and their meat plenteous.
16TSKCOMTherefore he sacrifices to his net, and burns incense to his dragnet, because by them his life is luxurious, and his food is good.
16TSKCOMTherefore he sacrificeth unto his net, and burneth incense unto his drag; because by them his portion is fat, and his food plenteous.

17TSKCOMWill they continue to empty their net And [mercilessly] go on destroying nations without sparing?
17TSKCOMWill he keep hauling in his nets and destroying nations without showing mercy?
17TSKCOMShall they therefore empty their net, and not spare continually to slay the nations?
17TSKCOMWill he therefore continually empty his net, and kill the nations without mercy?
17TSKCOMShall he therefore empty his net, and spare not to slay the nations continually?
